All About Endometriosis

Endometriosis is something that’s not curable, and it’s a gynecological issue that involves tissue that’s near the womb lining growing outside of the womb in different parts. It mostly effects the reproductive system, but also is something that’s commonly found in the bladder, bowel, and even sometimes in the CNS, heart, and lungs. It can be debilitating, and also may cause infertility, along with menstrual cycle control.

The Problem with Endometriosis

The thing with endometriosis is something that’s not officially diagnosed, but about 10-15% of women in the world deal with this, and it’s common in those who suffer from pelvic pain that’s chronic.

There are many who get hospitalized for this, and it can impact your life quality, the activities that you do, your sexual and physical functions, your relationships, your ability to be productive and also et an education, and also will impact your well-being and your mental health too. It also can make it harder for you to achieve the goals that you want to have.

The pain that comes with this does show itself in a myriad of ways. Some women have pain that’s really hard for them to have sex. Others have cramps that are really bad, or extreme abdominal pain right after and before their menstrual cycles. Some of them have lower back and pelvic pain on the regular, while others may have bowel movements that are incredibly painful. There are even women who experience every single one of these symptoms, which makes it even harder for them to live their lives. It can even cause vomiting and fainting in a lot of cases.

The Cause

The thing is, it’s still unknown, and some do theorize that the genetics, your environment, and the immune system you have may be a part of this. Some of them may also have a large sensitivity that comes with pain, and they might react to stimuli that’s not painful like it is, which is something that indicates neuropathy in a lot of cases. Sometimes, this is due to the release of serotonin due to the endometrial tissue invasion, or it may be caused by prostaglandins, histamines, or even nerve issues especially the growth in some of the immune cells

The treatments

Currently, the treatments include NSAIDs, and also other drugs and contraceptives. You may get a laparoscopy or a laparotomy which is a keyhole surgery. However, there is usually still pain. There are some treatments which include utilizing gonadotropin-releasing hormones through a three-month period, but it does cause major side effects.

There is also some treatments that purport vagus nerve stimulation and treatments. An emerging one, is cannabis, since it can help with the symptoms, mitigating these. While it may not get rid of the problem, it does help with the pain that’s associated with this. This is due to the ECS, and the way that it regulates everything. There are different ways for it to bind, and it also offers signals to different pathways. It’s also responsible for the reproductive organs and systems, managing the regulations of this to help you feel better and maintain homeostasis.

Some studies even found that endometriosis actually does inhibit these receptors, and also does activate your TRPV1 receptors, which are responsible for pain and inflammation. It’s something that’s also responsible for controlling the proliferation, migration of your cells, and also the interactions with various hormones. There is some possibility that this may be a part of also ensuring that people feel better, and the treatment of endometriosis, however there aren’t a ton of human studies for it.

What is Marinol?

While cannabis is still illegal in many places, Marinol has been approved to treat different conditions and improve the quality of life.

Is it legal though? Is it safer than regular medical marijuana or THC products?
Let’s find out.

What is Marinol?

This is branded dronabinol, which is synthetic THC. This has been prescribed to people in other places, with different names. This product has different amounts of THC that’s suspended in oils, usually sesame seed oil

How is it Used?

It’s normally used for treating two conditions.

The first is wasting syndrome that’s usually part of AIDS and HIV. This is something that affects many patients that have this, and usually, it results in a person losing 10% of their body weight.

For cannabis users, this can help to stimulate their appetite, eat more, and also help reduce rapid weight loss. Usually, this is a small amount, about 2.5 mg that’s taken twice daily.

The second condition this is normally approved for is vomiting and nausea due to chemotherapy.  Most cancer patients have this as a side effect, and this can help to reduce the vomiting and nausea that comes with this.

It’s a good way to battle this and improve appetite, and people usually take this before chemotherapy and afterwards.

Does it Get you High?

Yes.

This is because it’s similar to THC, so that means it’s got the same effects in your body that THC does. They look almost identical to THC too, with Marinol possessing the same elements, and some of them sit at different kinds of positions within this.

When you consume weed the THC passes through and binds with the CB1 receptors, which gets you high. Marinol works the same way, but the effects are much stronger compared to normal THC in certain patients.

These side effects come from the fact that many take Marinol by capsules, which means that it works like an edible, and usually the liver converts this to make it stronger.
Even though only about 20% of it goes into circulation, it can definitely make you really high.

Is this Legal?

Yes, for those conditions. It’s weird though since THC is still considered Schedule I, which means that it’s still considered a drug that can be abused.

It’s been reclassified in 1986 though as a schedule II drug, which means that it’s sued for some medical reasons, but there is still a chance that it can be abused.

It’s confusing too though because there is some legality to cannabis in many of the states these days, and some people can get it for conditions. But the thing is that it’s a lot more unpleasant than regular cannabis, and usually it does cause more severe allergic reactions.

The costs of this

This costs a lot more than cannabis does, about $734 for just a bottle of 60 capsules. While it’s expensive though, a lot of health insurances do cover this.
Medical cannabis is a lot cheaper though, and you can usually get quite a bit of flower for the same price.

Is it Safe to Use?

Marinol is not the most pleasant of drugs to use because it’s definitely something that doesn’t make you feel good.

However, this is safe to use in most instances, unless you have a history of mental illness.
The problem with Marinol however is that there are some that have seizures and other bad reactions, including allergic reactions and trouble breathing which comes from the use of Marinol, and that’s something that many should consider before they decide to use this drug to treat certain conditions.
